At our Special Mother’s Day Market we were thrilled to welcome Chef Matt Fenton and his team from Tarbell’s — an upscale restaurant that serves American fare in a chic space at 32nd Street and Camelback! Chef Matt arrived ready to show Uptown-goers how to make a delectable brunch for Mom on Mother’s Day, and showcased a menu that could truly be replicated at any time of the year, fit to impress all. Hint: If you are hosting brunch, read this!
Uptown was thrilled to welcome Chef Wade Simpson of Chef Wade’s Bistro on Wheels to the market for a demonstration at our special St. Patrick’s Day Market on March 16th. You may recall spotting this food truck at either the Wednesday or Saturday markets — he’s a fan favorite around here! Bistro on Wheels is known for offering delicious options for breakfast and lunch. In the spirit of the Irish season, Chef demonstrated four scrumptious ways to make cabbage that will have you wanting to make cabbage in your own kitchen long after the Leprechauns have gone back in to hibernation.
It was such a treat to welcome local chef and owner of Fà-me Caffe, Chef Ivan O’Farrill to Uptown Saturday. Just in time for Spring, Chef Ivan demonstrated how to make a vibrant, Spring Farmers Salad with fresh ingredients he found around the market. This creation was inspired by the Farmers Salad that can be found on the menu daily at Fà-me that has ever changing ingredients, depending on what is in season and available from local farmers.
We celebrated February 13th with a Special Valentine’s Day Market. With vendor specials, sweet treats abound, and a Valentine card making station it was only fitting that we made something heart-shaped with a special chef to commence the day! We were honored to welcome Chef Claudio Urciuoli and Jason Raducha from Noble Eatery (home of the famous Noble Bread) to the market for an interactive demonstration of Heart Shaped Noble Bread with Avocado Smorgas.
If you joined us at Uptown on the 6th, we are sure that you (like us!) couldn’t resist stopping at the Chef Demonstration table — the aromas coming from Chef Robson’s Paella dish demonstration were simply mouthwatering. We were honored to have Chef Robson, of Otro Cafe, join us to create this signature dish that is a staple at his restaurant, and he sure drew quite the crowd with his GIANT pan!
Thank you for joining us at Uptown Farmers Market for a demonstration by one of our newest vendors, Chef Tony Rea. Chef Tony is the owner and executive Chef of Creations in Cuisine Catering and launched his new pasta and sauce line, Pasta Rea, at our market last week. Because fresh pasta is the single most asked for item at Uptown, we were thrilled to welcome him to market!
We were honored to have Chef Jeremy Pacheco and Chef Joe Hobson from Lon’s at The Hermosa Inn join us to celebrate Uptown Wednesday’s 1st Anniversary with a very special demo! The chefs arrived at Uptown without a particular dish in mind to demonstrate, wanting to scour the market for special, unique ingredients that stood out to them. After coming across the abundance of fresh produce offered by McClendon Select they decided to make a superfood salad, inspired by a similar salad they offer on their lunch menu at Lon’s.
It was a little chilly this past Saturday morning at the market but that didn’t stop any of you from joining us for Small Business Saturday! While we warmed our hands and supported our local favorites, Chef Jared Porter from Clever Koi got setup for his demo. Chef Porter used a red snapper from Uptown vendor, Holy Mackerel Seafood, which was caught on Monday, flown in Tuesday and tasted by you on Saturday – never frozen! How fresh and delicious is that?
