The end car is made of Poplar hardwood. The wheels and axels are made of birch hardwood. The black bumpers in the rear of the end car are made from Birch furniture buttons painted with 2 primer coats, 2 color coats, and 2 clear lacquer coats. The bumpers are glued into place with a 2 part epoxy adhesive. Food-grade mineral oil is applied as a finish.
