The body of the fire engine is made of 1 ¾” thick Poplar hardwood. The 8 fixed panels are made of Baltic Birch Plywood. The red and blue lights are made from Birch furniture buttons, painted with 2 primer coats, 2 color coats, and 2 clear lacquer coats. The red and lights are glued into place with a 2 part epoxy adhesive. The incised design is handcrafted with a wood-burning tool. Food-grade mineral oil is applied as a finish.
