In my early 20s I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle (especially with food) which eventually led to me having many health problems. After having kids these problems only got worse. Not only was I noticing an inability to concentrate, but my fatigue was through the roof and some days I was unable to get out of bed. Aches and pains seemed to be my new normal. I decided I could not live life like this anymore. After visiting many doctors and specialists I finally sought help from a functional medicine doctor.
Immediately I recognized the difference in the approach this doctor had. Instead of immediately prescribing me medicine to mask my symptoms he began asking me about my diet. This ultimately led me to be gluten free, dairy free, and mostly refined sugar free as those were the main contributors to my ailments. Within a month I noticed a difference in the way I felt and I haven't looked back since.
But, I soon realized that I felt like I was missing out, especially in the desserts department. Although I never really grew up baking, I soon became quite the avid baker. Thus, my love for baking gluten free & dairy free desserts.
I always considered myself a coffeeholic, that is maybe even an understatement. After having children though coffee was no longer sitting right with me. I tried switching to caffeinated tea but with three boys... well... I needed to find a solution to my caffeine need. I came across Matcha at a coffee shop. My first experience with it was a very sugary/grassy taste. I thought, this could NOT be my only option. After doing some research, I found that Matcha is not all created the same. So I began my search for the best tasting Matcha. When I found it, I knew I had to share it.
Matcha Grove was born from all of this. I knew that I wasn't the only one who couldn't tolerate coffee nor the only one wanting delicious gluten free AND dairy free desserts. We can finally have it all!
