Last Fall, Uptown joined forces with local restaurants, chefs and C-CAP Arizona to host a Fall Chef Series at the market each Saturday. We were happy to include The Herb Box Team as part of that series.
Chef Kat and Chef Nick arrived at Uptown ready to prepare a perfect seasonal dish with a fun twist: Thai BBQ Brussels Sprouts. While the students of C-CAP diced green onions, oranges, and lemons for seasoning the sprouts, Chefs Nick and Kat got to work sautéing the Brussels Sprouts. The chefs explained the key to cooking delicious Brussels is to heat oil over high heat (important!) in a sauté pan that has a lid. Add Brussels sprouts to the pan, cut side down, and cook until browned, not allowing them to become too soft. Once they’ve browned, stir in chopped green onion.
Chef Nick and Kat seasoned the Brussels with the juice of orange and lemon. Then, to the steaming pan, the chefs added their secret sauce: Thai BBQ Sauce. This BBQ Sauce is the same sauce used to create their Thai BBQ Baby Back Ribs, offered daily as a starter at The Herb Box. To finish the dish, they sprinkled Sesame Seeds on top and served to eager Uptown-goers who had been watching the demonstration. Bon Appétit!
The Herb Box also had on hand their Original Sweet Potato Chips, Quinoa Protein Bars, Gluten Free Brownies and Orange Pecan Chicken Salad available to purchase! These products are now available weekly at The Herb Box’s NEW booth at Uptown. Find them at both the Wednesday and Saturday markets.
