Great Harvest Bread bread is baked in Tempe and by owners Ward and Leslie Halston. They had always loved Great Harvest bread and decided to jump into making their own bread using the marketing support of the anti-cookie cutter franchise Great Harvest Bread Co. brand. Great Harvest Bread Co. has been baking whole grain loaves for decades, “back when you couldn’t find whole grain loaves on shelves,” says Leslie Halston.
They grind the wheat berries that they source from small farms in the high plains of Montana (near the Walston family farm) and bake everything from scratch. These are heavy 2 lb loaves that you would be proud to bake at home if you had the time to do it yourself!
